A Long-Overdue Christmas Post =P

Having no money shouldn't stop us from giving to others. Last Christmas, I stretched my creativity and used my skills to be able to give gifts with minimal cash out. Using the materials I collected through the years, I gave my friends little presents that were done by the hands of yours truly.

I gave my girl friends a pair of crocheted brooch and hair accessory (the ones in zip lock on the picture). To make them more personal, I made them in my friends' favorite colors. =) For extra close friends and nieces, I added a matching butterfly cellphone charm. As for my mom, I made a girlie-girlie cream poncho. =P You can even see the flower accent on the photo.

Of course, I can't give my guy friends crocheted flowers, so I made them a personalized felt bookmark with their names stitched on it. I just forgot to take photos. =(

As for a friend of mine who left for her PhD studies, I personalized a laptop sleeve by stitching a picture frame on it. I also prepared mosaic collection of photos that she can put there.

And for myself, I made a small pink bag with big light pink button! Hehe.. But since it's too girlie-girlie, I've used it only once. =P

Until now, I see some of my friends using what I made. It makes me feel happy. =)

1K Til Payday

Can you survive with that? Buti sana kung sa Friday na yung payday, or next week, or the week after next.. eh what if clueless ka kung kelan yon? And you have to pay for the house by tomorrow? How about the electricity, groceries, etc? Tumataas ang interest ng mga unpaid bills mo... And nalapitan mo na mga friends mo... How do you deal?

It's been five months.. and the semester is ending.. No motivation to work na ko... =(

Sorry, have to release lang po.. I exhausted my other outlets na eh..

Think Healthy!

Summer is fast approaching! And fruit shakes are becoming my favorite thirst-quencher! Not that I am giving up on my favorite iced coffee frappes, but my choices are becoming healthier now (literally and figuratively).

;-)

SE vs. Nokia

I NEED a new phone na talaga. My 3-1/2 yo phone is showing signs of aging - unrecognized callers/texters pero nasa phonebook naman, address book capacity exceeded na, it hangs at times, and the list goes on. It needs to retire soon!

Considering I am a techie person (a mobile developer at that), I am looking for a device that can satisfy my communication, entertainment and research & development needs. I want a phone I can program with (Java is required, Symbian is a plus), a nice camera and a music player, and something that has good connectivity (Bluetooth and 3G required, WiFi is a plus). And the following are the phones that I consider:

Sony Ericsson K850i
I like the camera and the candy bar design. For me, my next phone needs to have a good camera. And this one is even considered a Cybershot! Music player is a plus. And it has one too! However, it's internal memory is only 40MB, just like my current SE phone. It can be expanded with a memory stick, though.
Features: 5MP, 3G, Java MIDP2.0, Bluetooth, 40MB internal, Memory Stick Micro (M2)/microSD, proprietary OS.
(P17950)

Sony Ericsson W910i
This model is included in the list mainly because of the color! I want my next phone to be red sana! Hehehe... If only K850i has red, I'll go for it na! =P
Features: 2MP, 3G, Java MIDP2.0, Bluetooth, Walkman, 40MB internal, Memory Stick Micro (M2), Proprietary OS
(P15150)

Sony Ericsson W960i
Need I say more? See related entry. =P
Features: 3MP, 3G, Java MIDP2.0, WiFi, Bluetooth, Walkman, Organizer, 8GB, Symbian OS, Black only
(P24900)

I used to be anti-Nokia, but things change! And I am seriously considering owning one. Here are my choices:

Nokia N82
Nice features and candy bar design but i don't like the color. Nagsasawa na ata ako sa "safe" color. =P
Features: 5MP, 3G, Java MIDP2.0, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, PTT, MicroSD(2GB included), Symbian OS
(P21950)

Nokia N81
Nice color: black with blue - medyo manly lang konti but I like the rounded-edge design, it makes it less stiff. Not bad for a slide phone, and 17.75K (mall price pa yan) for an 8GB phone? Not bad.
Features: 2MP, 3G, Java MIDP2.0, WiFi, Bluetooth, slide design, MicroSD(2G included), PTT, Symbian OS.
(P15350 for 2GB, P17750 for 8GB)

Nokia N95
An all-in-one device! For me, it's the Nokia equivalent of W960i, plus plus more!
Features: 5MP, 3G, Java MIDP2.0, WiFi, Bluetooth, slide design, GPS, PTT, Symbian OS.
(P19950 for 4GB, P25300 for 8GB )

Notice that the 6 phones are SE-Nokia equivalent phones. =D Comparing them, I prefer K850i over N82, N81 over W910i and N95 over W960i.

Trimming down the choices, I have the following in my order of preference:

N95 - 25300, Symbian, 8GB, slide, WiFi/Bluetooth, 5MP camera
N81 - 17750, Symbian, 8GB, slide, WiFi/Bluetooth, 2MP camera
K850i - 17950, Proprietary, 40MB internal/Memory Stick, candy bar, Bluetooth, 5MP camera

So pag nagkapera ako, alam ko na kung ano ang hahanapin ko for myself. :) As for now, have to think again (nakakapagod na rin...) how to get through this month... so konting tiis pa.. :(
